Which MERV rating do I need?
MERV 8Standard · MPR 600 · FPR 5 Captures everyday dust, lint, pollen and dust mites. A good choice for most homes and for protecting your furnace.
MERV 11Most popular · MPR 1000–1200 · FPR 7 Adds pet dander, mould spores and finer dust. A popular choice for homes with pets or allergy sufferers.
MERV 13Best filtration · MPR 1500–1900 · FPR 10 Adds smoke and very fine particles, including bacteria-carrying particles. Great for allergies; check that your system can handle a higher-efficiency filter.

Higher MERV catches smaller particles. MERV 10 sits between 8 and 11. Change pleated filters every 60–90 days, or more often with pets, smoking or renovations.
